I feel like I'm generally creative-crafty person. I can do a Pinterest tutorial and can handle a Pinterest fail, I go to Michael's and Joann's more than the mall, and one of my best gifts ever was a craft box filled with pipe cleaners for Christmas when I was 7. Those were the days!
However, I've fully come to accept that my husband will probably out-create me for the rest of our lives. On our 4th date he tricked me into a drawing contest and forgot to tell me that he once considered being a artist.
Valentines and home decor is no exception. I was determined to go to Target and make something that was cheap and I could actually display without total embarrassment-that is until Caleb got involved and I'm so glad he did because this craft was on it's way to total flames and disaster until he took the scissors out of my hands and told me he would help "a little".

Confession:
Sometimes I feel like this whole entire blog is a thinly veiled food journal. Look at that thing! Tears! Beauty! Clark's Island Donuts is a brand new phenomenon in Provo and I'm loving it a little too much because they are right down the street from us. My first adventure there was originally a treat stop for Caleb, but I took one"tester" bite and turned around to get another for me!

Quality Time
Our weekend didn't go quite according to plan as we had hoped. Our time with Caleb's family was great and I couldn't be more thrilled with my brother-in-law's plans to serve a 2-year mission in Atlanta for our church. Yay! After a few days of fun with them we set our eyes on a yert that my sister had rented in mountains. I was so looking forward to getting away and making some memories in Utah. I can't believe we will leave our home away from home in just a short few months! After a number of happenings, we decided that it would be best to stay home. At the time I was bummed, but now I don't regret it one bit.
Caleb and I took a couple of hours to ourselves and had the most romantic/casual/stuff your face brunch as anyone could. I'm starting to realize that it's little moments like these that make me so happy and make all the little other things that don't go right feel so much better!
On another note, giving myself injections and shots for IVF are hard and make me get real anxious! It's like a giant mind game with myself that lasts for about a half and hour. One side of me is saying "just do it already!" while the other is "stop, that thing is pointy, get it away!" I kind of feel like I'm in Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan and I don't know whether piercing my ears to meet my long-lost parent is worth it. Tell me you got that long reference...

Sundance has the yummiest pancakes + omelettes. I feel like I've finally tricked Caleb into sharing/splitting dishes with me and eating at restaurants just got 100% better

Back to School
It's back to Winter Semester and I can't believe that this will be my last 4 months at BYU. The saddest thing about it is that I hardly have any classes on campus. I'm trying to think of the last semester I had where I walked throughout BYU and went to different buildings. I'm going to miss those walks.
However, I'm extremely grateful and ready to graduate. 4 years people. 4 years. I'll never forget my first night at Helaman Halls, I was seriously contemplating what in the world I was doing here and the many reasons I should go back home. Realizing all the things that BYU has given me, none of those reasons really seem to matter. Maturity!

^One of my favorite photos that I've ever taken of the mountains where we live. Caleb was wondering if it was supposed to be out of focus. Yes, yes it is.

California
Being home for at the Holidays presents a number of challenges. Do I wake up 1 hour later or 2 hours later than is sociably acceptable? Do I eat all the food in the pantry tonight or do I wait till the weekend? Should I put on anything else besides pajamas and stretchy pants? Wait, that one's easy. No.
We spent Christmas and New Years with my side of the family and I couldn't have asked for a better trip. The weather was so nice! Like go to the beach in shorts and a t-shirt nice! Like I got a sunburn nice!
We also went to K1 racing together for family night. Needless to say, I was horrible horrible horrible and it made me want to go even slower than I usually do on the road.
Going home when you're older and have moved out makes you take on a new perspective about your upbringing and family. I usually imagine "home" the way it was when I was 16 years old-obviously things change and it's a shock when your little sister goes to hang out with her friends and doesn't ask you for a ride. It's the same when it comes to activities you do as a family. Instead of Disneyland, it's go-kart racing.
New Years Eve we headed over the the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach to spend some "educational" time with my nephew. Very smelly but a lot of fun! The drive was kind of killer (1 hour in a small car with 5 full-growns is a little interesting), but I'm glad we went a little ways from home to do something fun.
